The Creative Baguio Story The Creative Baguio Story

Baguio city’s application to the UNESCO creative cities network is inspired by a multi-stakeholders’ desire to sustain the growth of Baguio city, as one that is driven by sustainable and inclusive development engines such as culture and creative industries. The development goal is most relevant in a city that is the gateway to Cordillera region that is inhabited by diverse ethnic groups with a rich history and unique tradition, contributing to nation-building.

The design of Baguio city as a creative city is a declaration of sustainability and inclusive growth. It animates the creative sectors, encouraging innovations and productivity. Livelihood and employment will be sparked alleviating poverty. As a member of the UNESCO creative cities network, Baguio city become the stage for life-long learning and cross-cultural sharing with global stature.

About the City of Pines About the City of Pines

The name Baguio conjures, for both the international and domestic traveler, a highland retreat in the Grand Cordillera in Northern Luzon, with pine trees, crisp cold breezes and low verdant knolls and hillocks, thus the moniker “the City of Pines”.
